To stay or not to stay—the thought loomed, unspoken. Instead, I turned to find Mang Temy, the company’s lone radio operator, hoping he could reach my father across the sea.

At the radio room, Mang Temy—a man of few words—was already tuning the frequency for Mabag Isle, his weathered hands steady despite the rusted antenna rattling against the relentless wind. Gripping the microphone, he clicked and spoke calmly.

We waited.

The radio crackled, but all that returned to us were the murmurs of the sea.

“1995” is part of my ongoing exhibition at the Pinto Museum, titled “1995 ~Murmurs of the Sea~.” The show opens today, March 2, and will run until the 23rd of the same month.

This impression is pencil-signed, dated, and titled in the lower margin. It is printed on 70gsm Kozo handmade paper, showcasing its delicate texture and timeless quality.
